KNOKKE LE ZOUTE
Private home
Knokke le Zoute
For the 800m2 villa in the popular seaside resort of Zoute, the mission was to reinterpret the site in order to give it new life. Offering a perfect alchemy between a sombre elegance and a ‘wow’ factor, the house has become a physical tribute to the Belgian coast.
Designed like a family home, this second residence offers a real interlude of tranquillity, and a chance to get close to the sea while remaining hidden from view ...
The space was sorely lacking in light, so this house, intended to joyfully celebrate life, had to open up more to the park. The light now penetrates gently and harmoniously thanks to a skilful selection of pieces, including this spectacular fixture that has been diverted from its original industrial essence to transform into a sublime decorative object.
The theme follows a discreet approach characterised by great precision in the lines, austerity in the choice of materials, and subtlety in the palette of colours. The strict geometry of the entryway is complemented with a careful selection of materials and colours that give it an unexpected warmth, setting the tone for the general scenography of the spaces.
In the dining room, which fits 14, Hélène Guillon Lempereur chose a dyed straw marquetry for one wall, to create a grey effect that echoes the shades of the North Sea and the silver of the grasses covering its dunes. On the opposite wall, a light nubuck, extremely smooth to the touch, makes the space even softer. In the bedrooms are soothing tones and clean lines.
As the centrepiece, a poly-mirrored ceiling brings height to the room and reflects the garden on all sides.
“My clients wanted something unique and exceptional,” recalls Hélène. Mission accomplished!Materials, decorating and design - Hélène Guillon Lempereur
