INVALIDES
Art takes the starring role
Invalides townhouse
Away from the popular tourist streets, where the noises of the city fade away, enter a lush haven of peace, the ultimate family refuge…
In this beautiful 19th century bourgeoise house, the old floors have been preserved, as a homage to the illustrious neighbourhood that is its home.
For this project, the owners entrusted Hélène Guillon Lempereur with a comprehensive interior decoration mission: to create the very essence of a family home.
In this lightless space, she had to let in life with just the right note. Through a sophisticated and generous selection of works of art, Hélène has given this townhouse a unique soul. Hélène is particularly fond of this project – which represents the culmination of a passion that has always driven her.
The owners gave me ‘carte blanche’ to introduce them to the works of artists who match their own personalities and whose works would add more soul to the home. This was a great pleasure for me.
In the living room, beautiful woods cover the walls and redesign the space into a clever trompe-l’œil that filters the light. Several very beautiful, custom-made items of furniture complement the space.
Everything here has been carefully, delicately thought out, down to the last details to meet the wishes of every member of the family. Hélène took into consideration the personality of each: from the dusky rose to the double boat cabin, and passing through the children’s bathroom where all the elements have been redone in mini-size, nothing was left to chance.
The works of art bring the whole thing together, including the masterpiece: a monumental installation by Martin Berg called the Grand Souffle, made up of 800 gilt scales.
